Dan’s career has been focused on applying Machine Learning and data science to solve real-world problems. As Founder at Aeolus Robotics, he architected an autonomous manipulation robot and hired a 60 person engineering & Ph.D. team to build it. As Program Manager at DARPA, he created and led $200+ million dollar in R&D including the Machine Reading initiative which lead to the creation of “Watson”—the Jeopardy-playing supercomputer. At IBM Research, Dan developed technology resulting in 20+ patents and software solutions that are now part of the IBM Rational Software tool suite. Dan holds a Pd.D. from the University of Illinois (UIUC) in Computer Science.
